Service Project at the Ft. Ord Hostel

For all those members that attended the Ward Service project at the Ft. Ord Hostel, I wanted to let you know that it was a huge success in that the rooms were all prepped for carpet and tile, the window boards were taken down, and the entire exterior was cleaned, prepped, and painted all in that day. Thanks to all your efforts, this project has moved forward. The volunteers have continued to tile and plaster the inside and the last phase is about to begin.

This is an open invitiation to any volunteers that would like to be trained by a professional contractor to learn concrete work. Bro. Chandler of the Monterey Ward will be donating his expertise to train volunteers to demolish, frame, pour, and finish the sidewalks at the Ft. Ord Hostel. It will take place the next three Saturdays beginning this weekend. November 7 and 14 will be the demolition and framing of the current sidewalks. November 21 will be the pouring and finishing. This is a great opportunity to serve and learn a skill at the same time. Those with experience are welcome to come and add to the talent pool. As always, refreshments will be served to all volunteers. Starting time this Saturday TBA.

Contact Suzanne Sperry at 917-1079 with any questions you may have.
